We’re uber excited to bring to you another fantastic customer – Claudia Carey – from California. Claudia loves to send cards to her family and friends. Here’s just one of Claudia’s many testimonials from the past 6 months.
Halloween is quickly approaching, which means it is pumpkin time! Even if you are sick of hearing about Pumpkin Spice, I’m sure you’ll enjoy a few fun facts about our favorite October squash:
Pumpkins are part of the squash family and are fruits, not vegetables.
Illinois grows more pumpkins than any other State.
Don’t throw out your pumpkin seeds! They are rich in protein, B-vitamins and iron; roast them instead for a healthy (and delicious) snack.
The largest pumpkin pie ever made was over twenty feet in diameter and weighed more than 3,500 pounds. (That must have been a mighty Thanksgiving feast!)
The earliest Jack O’Lanterns were carved from turnips, not pumpkins.
The world record for furthest distance a pumpkin has been “chucked,” or thrown, is 4,483.51 ft. (That’s nearly a mile!)
In the animated TV special, It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, Charlie gets only rocks when trick or treating. For years after first airing, fans mailed bags and bags of candy from all over the world for unlucky Charlie Brown.
“For pottage and puddings and custard and pies, Our pumpkins and parsnips are common supplies: We have pumpkins at morning and pumpkins at noon, If it were not for pumpkins, we should be undoon.” – Pilgrim verse circa 1633
